 WATERFRONT
BY EVA KOCH

“Time is the substance I am made of. Time is a river which sweeps me along, but I am the river; it is a tiger which destroys me, but I am the tiger; it is a fire which consumes me, but I am the fire.”

Jorge Louis Borges, Argentinian writer

The water is storming, running and falling gently in the various works of the exhibition waterFront by Eva Koch. In the exhibition you met the work “I am the River / # 3” which is a recording of one of Iceland’s highest waterfalls Seljalandsfoss. In the work Eva Koch focuses on the meeting between the falling water and the river. The very moment when the potential energy is triggered with an almost explosive force. By filming at a reduced speed, Eva Koch achieves a sharpness of detail, so that you are simultaneously sucked into the roaring white mist and at watching the individual drops that are atomized in the air.

Time and history are present in the labyrinthine architecture of the bunkers. The exhibition presents the artist’s images of nature directly on the raw concrete of the bunkers and the sounds of nature in the resounding acoustics of the art centre. Eva Koch invites you to explore and uses video and audio to make the rooms become alive.

The exhibition was open every day from the 29th of June to the 18th of August 2019.
